What is First Day Access: Textbook Savings Program?
First Day is a partnership between SPC, Barnes & Noble, and the publishers to bring course materials to students on the first day of class through Canvas at a discounted rate. First Day materials may be Ebooks or software program access codes. If your course is participating in the First Day Book Program, you will be able to opt-in or opt-out in your course in Canvas via a pop-up.
If you opt in, you will receive instant access to the required materials and save 20-50% or more off the retail price. If you opt out, you are required to purchase the ebook or software program access code elsewhere. Opting out of the program is likely to cause you to pay a higher rate. The deadlines to opt out of the First Day Book Program are here: SPC First Day Book Program
The materials that are accessed through Canvas included in your tuition. If you do not click on the button to opt out, you agree to pay the discounted fee and SPC will bill your student account at the First Day price after the opt-out deadline passes. This will happen approximately 2 weeks after your class starts. This will show as a bookstore charge in your student account. If you have Book Line of Credit or are a 3rd Party vendor then the charges will be covered. If you are self pay, please make First Day Book payments to the business office.
