In Canvas, a group assignment is a way for instructors to allow students to work together on an assignment and submit it as a group. Only one group member needs to submit the assignment on behalf of the group. This guide demonstrates how to submit a group assignment.
How to Submit a Group Assignment:
- In the Course Navigation, click Modules, and locate the group assignment. Click on the assignment to open it. In the assignment submission screen, you will see a reminder that this is a group assignment and will count for everyone in the group.
- Next, choose a submission type (url, upload, or more/other):
- The Web URL submission screen provides a box to copy/paste the URL:
- In the Upload Submission screen, you have the ability to upload a file from your computer, take a photo with your webcam, or attach a file from your Canvas Files.
- The More Options submission screen allows you to submit a file from Google, JoVe, or OneDrive.
- The Web URL submission screen provides a box to copy/paste the URL:

Click Submit Assignment.
