In Canvas, a group discussion is a way for instructors to allow students have a discussion with members of their assigned groups. Only one group member needs to submit the assignment on behalf of the group. This guide demonstrates how to access and contribute to a group discussion.
How to access a group discussion:
Method One: Courses > Modules > Group Discussion

Navigate to your course (1), select modules (2), and select the group discussion from inside the modules (3).
- This routes you to the Groups section.

Select Discussions from the Groups navigation.

Select the discussion from the list.

Select Reply, type your response using the Rich Content Editor, and select Reply again to post your response to the discussion.
Method Two: Groups > Select Group > Group Discussion
- In the Global Navigation, select the Groups button.
- The Groups screen shows all the groups you belong to in active classes in the current term. Select the relevant group.

Select the discussion from the list.
