Canvas Studio: How to Submit Video Assignment - Student Guide

Use these steps to submit a Canvas Studio video or audio file to an assignment.

⚠️ Important: Make sure your Studio file has the correct name before submitting. Canvas creates a copy of your media for your instructor, and you cannot edit the submitted copy.

Step By Step

1. Open the Assignment

Select the Video Assignments.
Scroll Down to Find the Text Field.
In the Assignment submission section there are two different visuals you may encounter.

Choose Submission Type, Select Text or Studio

1. Select Text Entry
2. Depending on browser size on screen select the three dot Extension to expand options.
3. Select apps extension (the icon looks like an extension cord plug.)
Select View All
Proceed to next Step (4)

4. Select Canvas Studio
Find and select your video or audio file.

1. Allows you to locate previously recorded content and attach it to your assignment.
2. Search your library and attach it to your assignment.
3. This dropdown will allow you to upload or create new videos to submit to the assignment.

Once you have your setting configured Select Start Recording.

Recording

Studio is asking for camera/microphone permission — what do I click?

Click either Allow while visiting this site or Allow this time to grant access.

1. Allow while visiting the site-
This option allows the microphone to be accessed as needed when the site is open. if something prompts it to open it will activate.
Example- you open a video assignment and the microphone will turn on and activate.

2. Allow this time-
This option will only allow it while you have this instance of Canvas open.
Select The Media you want to Embed if applicable.
Select your desire Embed View.
Note: We strongly suggest you select Thumbnail View
Select desired View Restrictions and Embed Media.
