How To Setup Multi-Factor Authentication for Your SPC Account

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a way of verifying that people logging into our systems are
indeed the people we think they are. In these times when malicious and phishing attacks are a daily occurrence, MFA provides a way to limit the impact of these attacks and help ensure that only authorized people are accessing our systems.

MFA is a security enhancement that requires two different pieces of identity evidence for system
access. The two pieces of evidence must be something you know (user ID and password), something you have (smart card, phone, computer, etc.), or something you are (fingerprint, etc.).

MFA is quite simple. In fact, you probably already use it in some form. For example, you have used
MFA if you have:

swiped your bank card at the ATM and then entered your PIN (personal ID

logged into a website that sent a numeric code to your phone, which you then
entered to gain access to your account.

We recommend that you watch this helpful video that will help guide you through the registration process:

There Are Two Methods to Receive Your Security Code

1. When you visit the college website,, you will click on Titans Login at the top right-hand corner of the page

2. Once you’ve logged in with your student account credentials, you will land in your Titan Hub. You will be prompted to provide your choice of the authentication method after attempting to access your Office 365 Email or MyCourses.

Method #1: Phone (Text or Call)

After you've clicked NEXT on the above prompt, you will choose your method to receive your security code. The prompt will recommend the Microsoft Authenticator App, however, you can change your method by clicking on the link at the bottom left-hand corner that reads...

"I Want To Set Up A Different Method"

1. Click the link that reads... "I Want To Set Up A Different Method" at the bottom left-hand corner of the prompt.

2. Choose a Different Method. Choose Phone to receive a Text or a Call with your security code.

3. Here, you will enter in your cell phone number (Enter phone numbers all together, Do Not Enter Dashes. Ex: 5555555252)

4. Click NEXT.

5. Once you've clicked Next, you will receive a test code to that phone number. You will enter the number you received into the 'Enter Code' field.

6. Once you've entered the code correctly, you will receive a message stating that you've registered your phone number successfully.

7. You will now receive your codes via text when logging into your student account on an outside network. While you are on an SPC Campus, Multi-Factor Authentication is not required and should not prompt you to enter a security code.

The Microsoft Authenticator app is available for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone. To get the best experience, let the app get notifications when asked. (Allow Notifications)
